What type of alcohol will be okay to drink for a 13-year old?

I always take a few sips of vodka every afternoon when I’m alone in my room (I get some from my older brothers who also likes to drink when they’re alone) I don’t even know if vodka is safe :l I guess I started it 3 days ago. I’m wondering if it’s safe for me to take it everyday (I like it changing my moods time to time and I’m in the mood of taking alcohol). Some people say it CAN be safe because when I turn around 16 and I’m in the age of ‘always drunk’ it won’t affect me ’cause I already got used to it. Can someone tell me if its safe or just tell me a drink that won’t really make me drunk? I’m from the Philippines, btw. And I only take them inside our house in my room.

  • There are 6 answers to your question so far & 5 of them warn you to NOT drink! I’ll make it 6!

It is a generally held belief that the earlier one drinks, the far more likely that person will develop the disease of alcoholism & also that their emotional growth will stop. The reason there are laws against underage drinking is b/c young people are not mature enough to handle it, plus what I just stated earlier. You’re also being fooled into thinking that “because when I turn around 16 and I’m in the age of ‘always drunk’ it won’t affect me ’cause I already got used to it”. That is false thinking. All it means is that it will take more to achieve the the same feeling. Tolerance is denial. It’s time you realized that. Plus you stated you drink w/ your brother, who is also a peer. Peer pressure is the #1 starting point for people to start drinking. So you’re already on the slippery slope.

Since you stated “I guess I started it 3 days ago” means you now have a chance to quit w/out sinking any deeper. The longer you go, the tougher it will be to quit. FACT! You will not be allowing yourself a chance to achieve in life what is possible. Alcoholism will limit your options. It did mine.

My firm suggestion to you is to consult a person who is either in recovery &/or counsels alcoholics. They can set you straight on what may lie ahead for you if want to continue this foolish & misguided behavior. And when/if you do, do it sober!!!

I’ve known 24 people who’ve perished from this disease. And the news is awash w/ stories of those whose lives ended tragically this way. Do yourself a favor & find out the truth. Your life depends on it. You took the time, & care, to ask here. Now seek out the rest of the truth.

  • The answer should be dont drink at all. I’m a 17 year old guy, and I’ve drank plenty of times. First drank at age 13. I use to be like you and drink alone in my room, your going to kill your liver, if you have to drink anything make it a beer. And not every day, more like every 2 weeks. Your a teenager, I have experience and every teen drinks. I’m not saying you shouldn’t but don’t everyday, you’ll turn into an alchohalic where you can go without it.

  • It is perfectly safe in the sense that you wont have serious health problems form it when used liberally. But alcohol does put stress on your kidneys, liver, and kills brain cells. I would not make a habit of drinking more than once a week otherwise you can run into health problems later in life from excessive use.

  • Yous don’t drink alcohol at your age. It might not be too harm full for adults, when handled responsibly, but as you are still growing, there are many possible side effects – and none of them are good.
