What was that commercial for Guinness …?

Many years ago, perhaps in the 1990s, I remember seeing a TV commercial for Guinness.

The commercial was in black and white, and it followed the progress of a young man preparing for a night out. Everywhere he looked — at the reflection of the moon in a puddle, at little black fish congregating in his fishtank — he saw the iconic Guinness pint glass.

He walks down a lonely cobbestone street and winds up at his local tavern, where friends greet him warmly (with, of course, a Guinness).

I can’t find this commercial online, but the commercial used a SONG that had something to do with “at the end of the street”: it was wistful and gentle, and I’m trying to FIND OUT WHAT THE SONG WAS!

Can anyone help me?

  • Brilliant! My guess is that the fellas in the Television area here has that info. We just drink the beer, wine, and spirits and never much think about TV commercials.
