  • The bailiff get to say “all rise” for the judge to enter. He’s the first to do anything. Then the judge speaks, then the prosecution does their opening statement.

  • The prosecution has to present their case first. It’s too hard to defend yourself against what you don’t know you’re being prosecuted for. They present their evidence, you refute their evidence, and present some of your own evidence to help refute theirs.
