Why do so many NASCAR fans dislike Jeff Gordon?

Because he is intelligent, talented, well-spoken, and good-looking–everything that the typical NASCAR fan is not.

Because He didn’t appear to have to pay his dues. He came in to the sport recruited by Nascar Genius Rick Hendrick so he had great equipment, a great crew chief, a great sponsor and did what any great driver does “Wins” and wins A LOT!

By the way if Jeff Gordon had been merely average, Rick Hendrick would have been considered an idiot of Nascar with all he invested.

Also he is still considered an outsider ( Not from the southeast) or the East Coast for that matter. Not even from a racing family. He lives in NY, not Charlotte.

Its sad in a way. Fans of Racing respect him for what he has been able to do in such a short amount of time. He may whine at times but, it seems like they all do that nowadays. If it hadn’t been for his ex wife he would have won a lot more and be ranked #2 in the all time win list by now ( and You think they hate him now! Lol).

Jeff Could have easily gone to Indy car, Formula 1, GT, Daytona Prototype racing and still had a Fantastic Career. As a Nascar Fan I am quite proud that our sport attracted such a talented, professional, and well spoken driver

Because he is a WINNER and he is one of the BEST DRIVERS today and the drivers they root for are not winning any races. Jealousy is another factor. There are fans that say Jr is the best driver, BS, 2 wins in 2 years, what a driver. People may gay bash Jeff or call him a whiner. What does Tony Stewart do after each race, boo hoo, I lost again—nascar fans will have to accept the fact Jeff is better than Jr & Sr—just look at the stats

He came into NASCAR as a ‘golden child’ and swept many a race (no matter HOW he won, he won). Then after the novelty of so many wins wore off and things weren’t going his way–he was a big cry-baby. Just like all the other drivers had to, Gordon grew up. It just took a little longer. Even I can see that, and i am not a Gordon fan-really.

When I started watching racing I didn’t like him either.For the simple fact that nobody else did.I have been closely watching NASCAR for only about 5 years now.And I’m still not a Gordon fan but I respect him because he’s a great driver,the best today,and most are Earnhardt fans.

I know there’s alot of Jeff Gordon haters out there, but he also has LOTS of fans, such as myself. The reason that everyone hating Jeff Gordon has become such a big question is because he is winning races and other driver’s fans aren’t happy and are doing stupid things like throwing stuff on the track. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and to pick their favorite driver. I don’t understand why alot of people are blaming it on Earnhardt & Earnhardt Jr. fans though. I’m NOT a fan of either one, but unless you were actually at the race, you don’t know who’s fans were throwing things. I don’t think anyone should pick just ONE driver’s fans to blame. The idiots who threw stuff are just poor sports and feel they need to do childish things…… Who knows …. maybe the majority of people throwing stuff were fans of Michael Waltrip and are throwing things because their upset he didn’t get in the race?? =) Probably not the case, but you get my point. You want to know why NASCAR fan dislike Jeffy, the reason why is that he cheats, he will do anything to put someone into the wall to win the race. Come on people, can’t you see, why does somebody always wreck just when Jeff is trying to win the race at the last lap. Then NASCAR don’t even say anything to him either. I have seen it happen. Then he whinns about when he don’t win. He needs to learn to race like the others do and let someone else win for awhile. No he can’t beat Earnharts championships either even if he tried.

Well because Rusty Wallace is an idiot and got me into the wall and i wrecked there is no place in Nascar for that kind of driving just only when i do it

BTW Dale Earnhardt was hated for his rough driving and the use of chrome horn not because he dominated early in his career it took him SEVEN(7) years to be truly dominant read a book on NASCAR history please

A lot of fans dislike Jeff Gordon, because he has been one of the greatest rivalries with the other top drivers in NASCAR. I think this hatred from the non-Gordon fans started when he started to win 10 to 13 races in the years of ’97 and ’98. He was definitely looking like a formidable threat to his other competitors. The non-Gordon fans started to dislike him, since he was preventing their favorite drivers from winning races and championships.

This dislike of Gordon has been carried on to this year, where he is now starting to break records from the list of his accomplishments. He is starting to become like Dale Earnhardt, in terms of carrying on a famous perspective. Many fans disliked Earnhardt because of his aggresive driving style towards his other competitors, making a lot of non-Earnhardt fans angry. But on the other side, Earnhardt gained a lot of fans driving the way he did. The same goes for Gordon, in that he is a good driver, and is driven to win every race he competes in. Lots of non-Gordon fans hate his success, because it takes away from their favortie driver. Lots of Gordon fans love his success and follow his progress avidly from race to race, supporting him in the way he handles himself in the sport.

There will always be a good crowd and a bad crowd for any famous NASCAR driver. Dale and Jeff just happen to be two of the best drivers in recent history, according to the stats. Jeff Gordon has been respected and disrespected throughout his career, and both stances will continue to go on until he retires from the sport.

Mainly because he wins. It’s not because he isn’t a southerner or because race fans are ignorant rednecks. People tend to forget that Dale sr. went through this same thing he was jeered alot early in his career because he was dominant. Gordon is a great driver. And if you want to talk about a driver spinning people out to win races just look to his mentor, Dale Sr. However now NASCAR is all touchy feely and there is no room for that aggressive driving and Gordon has adapted to that. Gordon will break alot more records before he is done. He will continue to hear the BOOs as long as he’s winning. Like Sr. told him don’t worry about it just as long as they’re making noise. By the way I am a Jr. fan.

Everyone in Nascar is a Jr fan. Seeing how he doesnt win races they have to have something to do every weekend. So they make fun of Gordon, who is one of the best drivers of all time.
