No one would dream of taking budda, muhammed, or allah in vain. It is ok with many to take the Lords name in vain. Many people such as myself have seen the Lord work in people lives. It seems people have just become mean spirited towards Christianity. It was written that this would happen. I still want to know why it is ok. You would not stand for someone to use your mother’s name as a cuss word. You have no problem in using my God’s name in vain ten times an hour…Why?

God has a name and the word God were used by those who does not know his name. In some way it could be calling him in vain but that will depend on how well you have been using the word eversince. If you know the name of your God as God then, that could be calling his name in vain. “O, My God” have been an expression for almost centuries already and I am sure most if not all say that without intending to blaspheme our creator. so, do not feel guilty if you have used that.

I have a HUGE problem with people who take the Lord’s name in vain, especially Jesus’ name. People are mean-spirited towards Christians because Jesus told us we would be persecuted and the world would hate us! What kind of Christian are you that you don’t know this?
Jesus said, “You will be hated by all nations because of Me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people”.

the reason this is different from taking your mothers name in vain, is because your mother exists
First, he is not YOUR god… you share him with many other people. (myself not included)
Second, I use my mother’s title ALL the time when I holler “Mother Effer” at something that pisses me off. Christianity has caused its own meanness. There would be no reason to have ill feelings towards Buddhists or Buddha, that philosophy teaches peace and enlightenment, not fear and power.
Mostly because they are lost, and children of Satan and not God. If Christians do it, they have sinned, and need to be forgiven as 1 John 1:9 says.
