Will chlorine ruin my hair dye?

I got my ends ombred at my hair dressers on Saturday and I want to go swimming, will the chlorine from my pool ruin my hair or make the colour fade? My hair dresser did put some lock thing after I got it coloured. (The hair dye is permanent)

  • It’s not semi-permanent so no. But going every single day for a long period of time can make it fade.

  • You will be fine if you use this one simple trick…Wet your hair down with regular tap water before you go into the pool. Use the garden hose or if you are at a public pool just use the showers they have there.

If your hair is completely saturated with regular water less of the chlorine water will be able to penetrate your hair.

That is why you put hair color on dry hair. If you would try to put hair color on wet hair it wouldn’t work because you already have water in your hair and there is no room for the color to penetrate.

I hope I didn’t confuse you. It’s kind of hard to explain.

    Have fun!

  • It may make it fade depending on the quality of the hair dye and whether its bleached. If its bleached then coloured, I doubt it will end well. Could always tie your hair up in a bun?
