Will there come a time when ALL people will speak English in addition to their native language in Europe?

  • I rather doubt it. It is true that many people in Northern Europe have some basic knowledge of English.Some know it rather well however when they come to Canada they lack a lot of vocabulary,fluency and understanding.During my European visits I found that in S.Europe and especially in France they know very little English.

  • yes, but the language that will be essential will be Mandarin; we spoke about how this will be beneficial in the near future

    There’s just too many things worth saying that can’t be said in English..

    Besides, this is europe, not a knock-off of the USA

  • I hope not, English doesn’t even sound that cool compared to other languages. 😛 And why would Mandarin be essential? I know most people in the world speak it but they’re all in China.

    nobody would like to abandon his/hers native language
    people living in the European countryside would never discover they badly need to speak English
