Working in Rad Tech do you get too much radiation?

Do you get enough radiation for it to be dangerous? My brother worked in nuclear power in the navy and tells me I won’t get enough to worry about it. How true is this? I’m asking because I’m planning on going into the radiology technology program

  • You will get exposed to more than the average person yes, but not enough to be worried about. The human body can take a fair amount of radiation–it does every day from the sun and other various forms. Technology has come very far and if you follow the proper procedures, and wear the protective gear required you’ll be fine. Industries/companies that work with radiation are under very strict regulation and monitor this sort of thing extremely carefully. If the levels were dangers, you’d get some sort of alarm and know about it anyway. Fear not my friend.
