  • You are only just over the average with £50 for an 18 year old in the UK

There is no one magic insurer that will be best for everyone in your circumstances and in fact what is the cheapest today could be the most expensive tomorrow. Car insurance works like that.
THE FOLLOWING IS FACT, NOT SPAM OR ADVERTISING
This OFTEN GETS THUMBS DOWNS THOUGH NO IDEA WHY AS ITS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH. Anyway to the TD trolls, I could not care less. There is only one way of finding the best deal and it is a tried and tested method from a well known TV and radio guest who has an independent money saving expert website. The site sells nothing just gives advice – Get quotes from at least 4 different comparison sites – none deal with all of the possible 2 ish insurers so do this to cover them
Get quotes from Aviva and Direct Line too as they are on none of the comparison sites
Do not believe what they say when they reckon the best deals are on the net – its just wrong.
Now use the best 2 or 3 quotes to get on the phone and haggle. SEE THE LINK BELOW FOR LOADS MORE DETAILS AS THAT IS THE BASICS

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insuran… also gives some information about the ones with “Telematics” or “Black Boxes” to monitor and maybe lower the cost.

  • Don’t look on price comparison sites, they’re a waste of time. Have you thought of buying a classic car and insuring with someone like Carole Nash? Classic car policies can be amazingly cheap.

  • I have a 1999 vauxhall corsa. It cost me £8 for the car (brilliant condition for its age) and £14 for the insurance. This car is a brilliant first car and the insurance is quite low. Im with admiral multi car and have my mum and dad both insured on it by doing that. It actually worked out cheaper than using the black box! It tends to be. If your car is cheaper than £10 the insurance is more because you car about the car less. Is you spend more than £10 the insurance goes down as you car for it more. Other low insurance cars would be volkswagen polo or peugeot 107 and cars like that. Fords tend to be expensive to insure. Hope this helps 🙂 (i’m 18)

  • I had the same problem a couple of years ago. (21 at the time) and to insure 1.2 cars was quoting £4k. I ended up buying a little Renault van for £8. crap 1.6 diesel but because it was a van it was only £8 fully comp. Scary isn’t it

  • Put your mum , dad , sister or brother on the insurance should help.

  • “Okay i know this has probably been asked alot ” – This site has a search box, use it.
To short answer is that’s what insurance costs kids these days.
