Before you volunteer with wildlife abroad and I’m assuming you want to go somewhere like Africa to do this, it might be best to get the flavour of the area and experience life there, see the culture and get to know the people and the general issues. There are a number of such places you could do this, here is one such centre that I know personally (there are of course 1’s of them on the web you can look up). This one is a Danish run group and based in Zambia on the shore of Lake Tanganyika, Glenn and Julie who run it are well connected and experienced in doing work on the local community project, building facilities for local villages and working with young people. http://www.eventure.dk/en/om-projektet/
