Are hard water dishwasher spots poisonous?

No matter what I do, I get white spots on my dishes, pots, pans silverware and baby bottles.. etc. I usually rinse off the best I can before using whatever it is I’m using but I’m curious if these spots are in any way harmful.

Update:

We have well water. I’m % positive it is the water, itself. The spots are on anything hand washed as well and our shower curtain, our bathroom rinse cup.. ect. I do use a rinse aid and also a dishwasher disinfected every weeks.

It’s just something we live with. I just wanted to be sure the spots weren’t harmful to our children.

  • Hard water spots are calcium. Calcium is not poisonous. It may not be hard water spots, but soap residue.

  • i think it was electrosol I used to use on my dishes in the dishwasher and they came out sparkling clean (unlike the other brands).

some places on the net are saying digesting detergent from unrinsed dishes will make you sick. We’ve always known you can get diarrhea from that, and that some detergents are used in the garden to give bugs diarrhea. But if your rinse cycle uses hot water and you use a good detergent like Electrosol then you should no longer have those marks.

  • Not unless you are using poisonous water or other poison. It’s just a simple calcium buildup. Try one of those really expensive rinses you pour in the machine door.

  • I surely have purely had my dishwasher serviced and the repairman recommended that I throw the pill into the backside of the dishwasher, particularly than putting it interior the dispenser. additionally, I surely have began to apply heated water cycle and the dishes and silverware are a lot nicer finding and flickers.
