Are Spouse's Credit Cards Reported to Other Spouse's Credit Report?

I have a Visa credit card in my name. The account has my maiden name on it, not my married name. My husband is not an owner, or authorized user, of this account. Can, or will, this credit account appear on his credit report, even though our names are different? We both have our names on the old, paid off car loan. So, my name might be connected to his.

thank you.

  • What a bunch of bad answers.

As long as your Husbands name is not listed as either a co-signer or authorized user this account will not show on his credit period.

Living at the same address as a person with damaged credit has no effect in the U.S.A. on the other persons credit.

  • No it is not on your husband credit report unless it was a joint credit card, the credit reports work with your national insurance number and date of birth, they in theory do not need your name – if you both live at the same address and one of you have bad credit and the other one has good credit it will affect the good credit slightly, Good Luck

  • No it would not be reported on his report why are you not paying on it? In addition you have advised them of your name change, correct?
