Are YOU scared of thunderstorms?

Gawd, because I am! I’m most comforted at a friend’s house, because we play silly games and dance to music. But, at home, I pace and start to feel like I’m going to puke. I live in Minnesota, by the way. The sky always looks grey, dark blue, or orangish yellow! Let me know if you are.

Update:

Wow…I didn’t know I’d get 44 answers in 3 hours…Wow! Also, I’m not scared of lightning, I’m scared of tornadoes…

  • I love thunderstorms, and I love Minnesota!

  • I love thunderstorms (even if I am outside). When I was younger I was afraid of them and everytime one came at nite I couldn’t sleep. But I got older and I no longer fear thunder, and now I enjoy watching the storms come in from my window and listening to the thunder, but I make sure I stay a safe distance away from the window.

Even though I live in New york City and the thunderstorms we get here aren’t too severe, I’ve been to other states where they get thunderstorms like you folks do in Minnesota, and I’ll never forget that storm I saw two years ago where there was at least one lightning strike every two to four seconds and it spawned a couple of tornados two towns over from where I was staying out of state.

Don’t worry. A lot of people fear thunderstorms but as long as you do the right things they can’t harm you.

  • Not so much anymore, but when I was six years old a tornado hit my house. After that happened, I was terrified of thunderstorms until I was about 14 or 15. My school had me talk to a psychologist once a week for about a year, but the only thing that can really help is realize that there is nothing you can do to control the weather. Whatever happens, happens!

  • i was terrified of thunderstorms when i was younger (my parents say when i was a small baby there was a bad thunderstorm and my mother and i were looking out the window when lightning struck in the middle of our lawn they said i cryed for days) probobly not true

i became less and less afraid as i got older with more and more experiances with storms i found that getting a book and reading on the subject made me less afraid though its different for everyone some peple like to go in the basement some like to be with others its all different

now a days i like to go out side during storms lie down in my lawn or a field and watch the show its even better at night

  • It must be beautiful to see the sky in a different color than baby blue….I love thunderstorms.they sound amazing when u hear thunder. i love rain to.

here’s some advice….if ur scared of thunderstorms, watch the weather forecast a head of the storm, and make some arrangements with ur friends so that you will feel comfortable. I really don’t know why ur so scared of thunderstorms but, if ur next to someone during one, you might feel more comfortable….

  • Its not the thunder im afraid of its the lightning with the thunderstorm. These days it has seemed to be more intense.I did something to help with my fears i got me some stick up lights for all over the house and i keep fresh batteries so if in night itgets bad i can see to get around.Last one we had the cat glued herself to my lap for three hours. She is a baby and she was soooo scared.

  • Yes ofcourse, animals have better instincts than humans sometimes. They know thunderstorms are dangerous. 250,0 people died in the Tsunami in Christmas 24, and almost no animals died because they were smart enough to be afraid and run to higher ground in time.

Not respecting and fearing thunderstorms is a form of arrogance of not respecting and fearing nature.

  • I’m not scared of a regular thunder storm, but, I get scared when the wild, wicked storms hit. And when a tornado warning is issued, I am really scared.

  • I feel comfort whenever there is a storm, it’s just being safe and secure in a house. I Make Hot Chocolate, and read a good book, I always feel comfort in a storm.

  • no, thunder storms are nothing to fear, especially if your in a car. the chance of you getting hurt by lightning is much less if your in a car. when i was little i didnt like the loud thunder, but now i kind of enjoy watching out the window at thunderstorms

  • Well kind of, I hate them because like if the power goes out I’m so freakin bored. I don’t like thunderstorms in the south, because they get very dangerous thunderstorms lol and that means you can’t go swimming.
