check bounce part of a scam i think?

Okay so yesterday i recieved something in the mail about being a serect shopper with a check in the amount of 13 for me. At first i thought it wasnt good but it was a real check.I went to go check it and i thought if i wasnt real it wouldnt go through. it was pending for a day and today its in my account. Today ive been reading that it could be a scam and the check could bounce? What happens if the check bounces would i get in trouble? i didnt write the check its from some company? The letter i got said do some shopping basically and fill out the forms that they send me and all that junk. Now the money they gave me im using towards bills because it never said a due date so once i catch up on my bills i will then do what they tell me to do. So my question is i spend 5 so i have 7 bucks left and if it bounces. Will i get in trouble or will they?

Update:

I cash it i thought if i was a scam it would just get denied i did that yesterday and the check was on hold for 1 day then today i check my account and its all there i spend 6 already on bills because im already behind so i took this as a loan i will pay it back one day.

Update 2:

Well im leaving 750 in the bank i get payed in 2weeks im calling the bank and will pay 6 the bank so they will take it all back. I will call the bank tomorrow thank you

  • Stop.

take everything to the bank manager.

    It’s a scam.

  • This is a scam. The check WILL bounce in 3-4 weeks and you’ll owe the bank $13 when it does, have your account closed, be put into CHEX Systems preventing you from opening any new account for 5 years, and be investigated by the police and possibly arrested

This is one of the most common online job scams

1 – Real mystery shopping NEVER sends you a check. You always pay out of pocket then get reimbursed 30 days after you submit your receipts

2 – You can’t even start as a mystery shopper until the company has issued you an I-9 and W-4 form which you have returned, AND you have attended a training session

3 – REAL mystery shopping pays $5-8 per assignment, NOT $5 or $7

You need to call your bank ASAP and tell them to put a Stop Check on that check. If you don’t and it bounces in a few weeks you’ll be in serious trouble.. The check is counterfeit – that’s why it clears. It uses a real company’s name and account number. The reason it takes 3-4 weeks to bounce is because the check will clear, it gets returned to the payee’s bank, the cancelled check gets sent to them with their next monthly statement (which could be 4 weeks from now) and it’s not until the bookkeeper is balancing the books that they notice a check out of sequence, they call their bank who calls your bank who calls you and calls the police to investigate you

Do not delay – call your bank manager ASAP and stop payment on that check. And report the person who sent you the check to your local police station as this is NOT a legitimate mystery shopping company if you were never given tax forms, never trained and sent money upfront

  • Do not take any money out of the bank. YES the check is fake and will bounce soon. It takes up to 2 weeks for a check to actually clear! So if you cashed the check put all the money back into your account NOW. If you deposited the check then just leave it there and do not take out any money. Talk to the bank manager and tell them you think you deposited a fake check, that you were SCAMMED.

As long as you do not take out any money (or put all money back that you took out) then nothing bad will happen. Once this check bounces you owe the bank ALL the money back from the fake check IMMEDIATELY. They will NOT give you a grace period to pay it back. You stole from the bank is essentially how they will treat this and will call the police on you. So put ALL the money back in your account today. You should borrow from friends or relatives to put all this money back today ASAP! Because as soon as the check comes up as a fake (which IT WILL) you owe the money the second the bank finds out the check is fake/bounces! NO GRACE PERIOD. You can and will be charged with a crime if you don’t put all the money back IMMEDIATELY! Seriously. They will call the police and you will either be arrested or given a date to go to criminal court if you don’t put all the money back immediately.

The bank does NOT CARE if you were a victim of a scam. They see this only as you took the money you didn’t have out of the bank and gave them a fake check in return! It is a crime.

  • Some of these checks are also loan scams.

I get these offers all the time where they send me a check, and by signing the check you are agreeing to these outrageous interest rates and cash advance fees.

  • Your bank will require you to pay that money back. It will be you who gets in trouble. I would wait until that check clears before spending a dime of it. The bank will close your account and require you to pay every dime back and do an investigation.

They have a holding period of a day but depending on where the checks bank is, it takes time to get to the bank in order to be denied and sent back to your bank. Don’t be surprised if you get a surprise in a month.

  • David you already know the cheque was a SCAM and thats why you spent the 6 already. Don’t worry about paying it back one day because the bank will be onto you real soon and your credit history will go down the toilet because you are a SCAMMER just like the cheque was!

  • The law forces banks to clear checks but in reality the check has not cleared. Even after a check cleared the owner of an account has 90 days to realize a bogus check was drawn on their account. Your bank is going to deduct the full amount as soon as they are notified, charge you for the bad deposit, charge you if you over draw, and heaven help you if more checks come in. Welcome to the most common scam on the planet

  • Surely you are not really this gullible?!?!?!!

Your bank will require you to pay that money. You will also likely end up with fees when your account hits a negative balance.

Shred that check and don’t even thin of depositing it.
