Do I need to uninstall WIFI from my PC before going to wired connection?

My computer once was on a wired connection with Charter. Then it was on AOL. I KNOW I got all of AOL out of my computer. Then I moved, and I installed Netgear for Charter WIFI. I moved again, and now my only connection will be with Charter wired internet.

Do I need to UNINSTALL netgear wireless from my computer? (or can I just hook up to the router?) If so, will I be able to install it again from the same disc?

  • No, of course not. Nor do you need to do anything going from one wifi connection to another, or from one wired connection to another.

Seriously? I typically use three to five different wireless networks and one to two wired networks in a day’s time.

  • The LAN plug on the PC is basically the network doorway.to your computer, so as long as there is a viable network signal there, It will let it in no matter who it is.

Your Ethernet/LAN adapters default settings will be fine for all of them, so there is no need to do anything but plug it in, wait for the PC to inquire the connection, then click on your browser.

  • A PC can work with many network adapters. If it isn’t enabled, it doesn’t matter. If it isn’t seen as UP (like the cable connected) it will ignore it.

It can actually have 2 connected, but it will pick the fastest. (as determined by the driver config, not actual speed).and ignore the other.

  • Just hook up to the router. Interrupters and transistors will do the rest.

  • plug the cable in and it should just work without any other changes

  • Of course not.

  • No, it’s not necessary.
