How can i tell what grade rifle i have?

One of my rifles is a Remington Model 740 and it was offered in many grades, 740A, 740ADL 740Bdl 740F(premier) and some others. The 740 ADL was the 740 with checkering, sling swivels and a bit better action. I have these features so mines at least a 740 ADL. The only difference between 740 ADL and 740BDL is the grade of wood, so how can i tell what grade wood i have?

I have seen many others and my wood looks nicer but im not sure heres a couple photos

  • Easy, Call Remington Customer service with the Serial Number and they will tell you the exact model it is, or was shipped out at from the factory.

Judging from your pictures, I am going to say that it is a BDL – **if** the stock checkering is factory original.

  • I don’t know, but that Savage Sporter you have on the same page is a nice looking rifle.
