I want to upgrade my MSI 915GLM-V motherboard?

I want to add hard disk & video card to my motherboard.

Please suggest a good upgrade for them.

I have 80GB hard disk already and don’t want to remove it.

I have only on board graphics about which I don’t know anything.

  • That board has 4 SATA slots, so any SATA HDD you get should work fine on it.

If you’re wanting to upgrade the video card, I wouldn’t bother. That board has what MSI calls an “AGR” slot. Some web sites I’ve looked at label it as an AGP slot. If it really is an AGP slot, it is highly unlikely you’ll find any decent hardware for it. If you’re doing this for gaming, depending on exactly what game you’re wanting to run, it may just be an impossible task.

Newegg doesn’t have anything newer than nVidia 7 series cards with an AGP interface, though they do have some Radeon HD 40 series cards, which aren’t terrible cards, but you’re still being hampered by your old mainboard.

In my opinion, depending on what you’re wanting to do with your computer, it’s just not worth the cash to try to upgrade just the video card, though if you purchase a new HDD, you can easily move it to a new machine (or use it when you upgrade your mainboard/processor).
