If God exists outside of time, why pray only for things in the future or the present? Why not the past, too?

Update:

@Red Vixen

If God is outside of time, is it impossible for him to alter something in the past for beings who don’t? How would those beings not benefit from it?

Update 2:

For example, my dad’s church prayed that the North would win the civil war even though the South won. Now look at all the history books…their prayer was answered.

  • Because the past has past.

  • A prayer that I had answered had to have been started 30 years before I asked for it in order for it to come true.

The prayer was to get my heroine addicted sister (we didn’t know if she was dead – missing for two years) arrested and deported into my care. She lived in the other country from the time she was one month old. She was 29 when I said the prayer.

She was arrested within a week. She found a bottle of pills that, when arrested, made her look like she was dealing them. She loathed drug dealers and would never have done that to support her habit. Hooking, yes. Stealing, of course. Other things, sure. But never dealing.

Because of the seriousness of the charge, they deported her to my care. She stayed with me four years and is now the super of a building with 150 units. She went from being homeless to having 150 to look after.

She never would have been deported if my parents had taken care of the paperwork. She couldn’t have been deported if we moved overseas a month before, instead of a month after she was born. Etc.. etc.

But it doesn’t matter. You have made yourself unteachable. Identified yourself as a cynic at the cost of your soul. I wrote this for others, not for you.

  • could tell you things that would totally change the way you think about everything about this subject

but that would take years to get the words right and ready

so lets just say, the past is here to remind us what worked out and what didn’t.

it isn’t the fairy tale trustworthy authority who cared enough to make your path pleasant and right.

you might have to learn from the unpleasant or even unfair things on how to make life pleasant and fair.

if you do well with this you might be able to teach others to avoid such negative experiences.

that is good for all, wouldn’t you think?

  • In fact some Christian churches do have healing prayer for damage a person has endured in the past. Some call such prayer “Healing of memories”.

  • Sorry, I don’t believe time machine, paralel dimension or something about change past. So, God is one and He is in our time because “time is only quantity of memories that exist in human brain that depend on how fast human brain record its memory”.

You can feel time slow because your sense is slow, and vice versa.

EHm…., I still try to think. If there is no time can something happened in there. How you said what god have done. isn’t it past?. There is time when you do something, confused:)

  • We do. We offer a prayer of praise for what God has done in the past.

  • God doesn’t exiswt outside of anything. God doesen’t exist full stop

  • If the past was changed, we wouldn’t know it, because our memories would change too.

  • There’s no changing the past, what’s done is done.
