I'm confused and scared?

We took my yellow lab Sadie to the vet today. When we left, they just handed us a dewormer and never said anything. I’m so confused and worried about her. Does this mean she has heart worms (she was tested for them)? And if she does will she be okay? I’m so worried because she is my best friend and when I get lightheaded and dizzy and out of breath and nauseas because of health issues, she sits or lays down with me and helps me get over it quicker. I love her to death. Btw she just turned a year old 🙂

BQ: Do u like her name?

BQ 2: is this just a preventative?

BQ 3: will she be okay?

Thanks and please no rude answers or comments I’m just really worried

Thank you!

  • Virtually all dogs (especially puppies and dogs who have been in shelters and around other dogs with worms) get roundworms. These are in their intestine, not their heart. Now, she does need heart-worm prevention but that is a separate thing entirely.

So first, don’t worry about heartworm, and intestinal worms are normal and giving a dewormer is normal. What isn’t fair, in my opinion, isthat they seemed so unfriendly – handing you that and saying nothing, not even a freindly good bye. I would call the vet and tell him exactly what happened. If you call and get the unfriendly person on the phone, tell her exactly what you wrote here – that the medication was given to you with no explanation and no instruction and you have questions about why it was given, was it even given to the correct dog, and why did the person who gave it to you not explain anything. And then tell her that friendly staff and pleasant greetings are what keep customers coming back.

And lastly, I love Sadie’s name. It sounds like the perfect name for a yellow lab. We have friends whose yellow lab (male) is named Vernon. Now, don’t Vernon and Sadie sound like they should be a pair?
