Laptop losing signal?

So I’ll be using my laptop and then out of nowhere it will lose connection. Usually it wasn’t a big deal because I would just click on the connection thing and it will search for problems and it will say turn on wireless capability and it would work, but now its doing it so much more often and its affecting my online tests. And now when it happens it doesn’t even show the connection thing and give me the option to do the search for problems thing.

Sorry I’m horrible with computers. I have checked to see if it was another connection interfering but all the other connections in the area have very low signal so I don’t think that’s it. I have noticed that the problem stopped when I stopped using Skype. I don’t know if that’s a coincidence or what.

I use an ASUS Laptop, Windows , so its wireless connection. Like I said though, I don’t know why the computer turns off the wireless capability. Is there any way for me to turn it on and off without the connection problem search?

P.S. If there is any other information you need to answer this question, just ask and I’ll put it up as edit.

  • Wireless connections, though popular by the advertising agencies, is not the most reliable form of connection, obviously. Many things can affect your signal such as microwaves, cordless phones, your neighbors, (yes, their equipment can affect your connection too,) the obstacles in your house such as walls and such.

You can try to switch the channels on your wireless devices and see it this improves the issue or you can try to find a new location for your wireless router, which at times is easier said than done.

Lastly, how many things do you have running wireless when you loose connection? You might be choking your wireless bandwidth which isn’t helping matters much. //#
