  • Well, I’m going to be the nice one. One betta will get along just fine with tetras. Just don’t do guppies, due to their similar body shapes. Don’t add a female betta though, only if you have her in a breeding tank with the male, and with a separator inbetween them (Which can be found at Petsmart). I started my fishtanks at 13, and it was a great experience for me. Just remember that the two bettas won’t work out so well.

  • Your tank is too small for the fish you have, Lipstick tetras need groups of 6+ – since they’re schooling fish, and require a 10 gallon tank by them selves. Betta’s need 5 gallons to them selves as they’re teritorial.

Do not put a female and male betta together, unless you have a 55+ gallon tank. Right now your tank is suitble for the betta only

    you have 5 fish wtf

5 gallon tank is great for a betta. You also have 4 other fish that probably already pissed the betta off. I own 9 betta’s. Betta’s may look peaceful with other fish at 1st, but it doesn’t always stay like that. Your 13 so kid don’t get no betta no nothing if you want more fish get a bigger tank in when i mean bigger i don’t mean a 10 gallon tank.

  • Your fish tank it’s already overstocked as tetras need to be in shoals of six and be in minimum 20 gallon fish tank due to how active these fish are .

also Betta Splendens shouldn’t be kept together as they are fighting fish , so they will kill each other if you are going to place them together.

    My suggestion :

Rehome the tetras, then you could add maybe 3-4 smaller shrimps such as cherry/ghost shrimps and maybe few nerite snails.

If you want to get some fish for betta tank mates then you should have the fish tank starting from 10+ gallons

  • That’s an even worse idea than adding a Black Ghost Knife. One of them will almost certainly be killed.

You should not be adding ANY more fish to that tank. It’s not a competition to see how many fish you can cram into a tank before the system crashes and they all die.

  • Male and Female bettas can’t be kept together in the same tank. Especially not one so small.

  • Sadly not, they’d likely kill each other!

Betta splendens are territorial, the fancy ones are extra territorial. When they’re not spawning they want nothing to do with one another and will fight each other.

  • Dude betts fish are fighting fish you put them in a tank with other fish they will fight to the death
