My dog can't walk.?

He is an old miniature schnauzer who is almost 13. In the past few years he has gotten arthritis but today he hasn’t walked at all. When I pick him up he is just limp.If I set him down to try and get him to stand he just lies down and doesn’t move. What is wrong with him? What are the procedures to fixe him? Will he need to be put down? Thanks for all answers.

  • No one here can possibly know what is wrong with your dog, or if it is able to be treated. Even a vet needs to examine the animal and likely do some diagnostics (like x-rays or blood tests) to find the cause. He should have been taken to the vet this morning when he was unable to stand, so take him in now. Your dog may or may not be able to be “fixed”. It may or may not be an appropriate decision to have him euthanized. That’s something that you and your veterinarian need to decide, after the dog is examined.

  • We can’t say anything but get your dog to a vet.

13 is not that old for a small dog. He needs medical care.

  • Your dog can’t walk. Soo, what do you want us to do about it? Give you confirmation to put him down?

  • Sick pet = vet.

    Period.

    No excuses.
