SRR vs Joey Maxim question?

If Robinson actually weigh the right weight do you think he would be light heavyweight champion or would the weight slow him down and make him sluggish or would it be the same results?

  • Robinson should have beat Maxim, but the heat in Yankee Stadium that night was unbearable. SRR didn’t need to put on the extra weight, it probably would’ve been uncomfortable and made him feel bloated.

Maxim leaned on him a lot, which did contribute to Robinson getting exhausted, since he had to hold the weight of a man much bigger than him all night.

Either way, the conditions that night were terrible and Sugar Ray was probably gonna gas no mattere what. If he were bigger, then his cardio wouldn’t have been as good.

  • I agree with STICK that heat more than Maxim or weight beat Robinson.

    1) It was 103 degrees that night.

    2) Robinson was winning on all cards against the bigger champion.

    3) The orginal referee had to be replaced after he could not continue due to the heat. This would be the only “knockout” loss of Robinson’s career.

A good bet the fight was fixed,..?!! Robinson was not to come out the winner,..!!

Maxim was good,..But,.think robinson was a colored man,.how much heat was there,..

1 degrees,..90 degrees,.? Robinson was not really a weak puncher,.! Could have taken

Maxim out in around 6 or 7 rounds,.!? Sssoo, why did the fight go on and on,..so,.Maxim

    could win on technicality,.or,.points,.?

It be doubtful that the extra 10 pounds would have made a difference,..The opposite

could have,..Training and dieting to take off 10 pounds would have weakened ‘im,.See,.?
