strong acid-strong base reaction?

Hello,

The problem is:

If one mole of a strong acid neutralize 2 mole of a strong base:

A. the concentration of the acid is 2 times that of the base.

B. the concentration of the base is 2 times that of the base.

C. one mole of the acid releases 2 mole H+.

D. one mole of the acid releases 1/2 mole H+.

I am pretty sure it’s not D, does not makes sense to me that the acid would release 1/2 moles of H+ and still reacts with 2 moles of the base.

Same for B, if there is more base then the acid couldn’t react with 2 moles of it.

Therefore I think it’s C, what do you think?

Thank you.

  • You’re quite right…the answer is C.

    e.g. H2SO4 + 2NaOH —> Na2SO4 + 2H2O
