What does the term work mean in relation to human physiology?

Hi guys, i can’t find the definition of work in relation to muscles in my human phys book and any time i google it it comes up with work physiology which is a completely different topic.

  • You should try this question again but give the sentence in which the word is being used. Otherwise we are just guessing.
    When I think of work in relation to muscles in could mean metabolism at the cellular level, BTUs of energy expenditure, muscle contraction…etc.
