My idea was to go down 50-1m down, right beside an ocean and make a place to live there. There would be a hole leading from the ocean to a few turbines which would, along with geothermal energy, power the house. Then saltwater would be converted to clean water and plants would be grown using artificial light. Thoughts please?

Off-grid living/sustainable homes are really cool. Not only are you energy independent, but also financially independent. No more paying electric, heating, AC, and water bills. Best of luck on your project.

One issue facing Earth homes and probably your design is high humidity, lack of sunlight and a constant temperature that is colder than is comfortable. All these things require energy to correct so in addition to the added building expense you would have an additional operating burden.
Thats already in operation for some power plants and dams are made just for this purpose. Mike
