when I type my IP into the address bar, it says it cannot connect to server?

I’m trying to set up a minecraft server, so I have i’m trying to portforward, and one of the first steps is to type your internal IP into the address bar of either safari, firefox or internet explorer. I have a mac, and I’ve tried safari and firefox, and both say that they are unable to connect to the server.

Any ideas?

  • You do NOT type your own IP address to set port forwarding. You type the router IP address as that is where the ports need to be set to forward, NOT on your machine.

  • Make sure your server software is running and capable of serving pages. You must enter the IPv4 address of your server in the address bar.

  • Turn off your firewall then try it
