    To make an alcohol, simply use NaOH for Sn2 reaction

    For an amine, ammonia attacks Sn2 style, and a second equiv deprotonates the –NH3+

    Using NaCN, the awesome nucleophile of –CN attacks Sn2 style

    (These are not the only ways, and all are assuming halocarbon isn’t tertiary…if it is, you would use water, ammonia, and HCN, respectively, instead of give reagents. These would go the Sn1 pathway)
