Why do people consider Competitive eating and Poker sports, but not competitive dance/cheerleading?

I’m just wondering, I think that it is stupid.

  • Because you are not judged by make up and outfits in competitive eating. I do agree that poker is not a sport. They do show cheerleading on ESPN, but I think it is just for guys to watch girls in skimpy outfits.

  • I don’t know people are like that now days. Were all human. Cheer and dance is harder than people think and until people wake up and see that then we will have no idea. I def consider it a sport they r both hard and require much strength and determination. I’m also a figure skater and get teased by hockey players a lot that figure skating is easy and not a sport. Just keep ur head high and middle finger higher;) lol jk

  • Because they don’t want to admit that what could be one of the most dangerous sports in the world (throwing girls up in the air and having them flip backwards trusting their bases to catch them) or doing back tucks and backhandsprings (which requires lots of skill and talent) are a majority of pretty girls who not only perform a harder sport than them but look prettier at the same time 🙂 lol

  • Because some people still have the stereo-type of only blonde girls in short skirts shaking their butts, when they don’t know how hard we work. With dance its the same but it just isn’t appreciated for its really beauty and the work that goes into it. When someone says something about it not being a sport just ignore it because they don’t know nor could they practice/train as hard as we can.
