Why isn't my computer connecting the the Internet?

My wireless works perfectly for my iPads and iPhones. But when I try to connect to my windows 7 computer through the Ethernet cord, my computer says that there’s no Internet connection available. Help?

  • There are soooo many reasons, like…

    – Is the local area connection enabled on your pc?

    – Did you go through the steps to set up the network?

    – are the drivers for your ethernet adapter installed? are they updated?

    – is your computer set for a static ip? it should be set for a dynamic ip.

    – did you try a different ethernet cord?

    – do you have so many wireless devices all using your router that there are no more spaces left for your computer?

I could keep going but I am bored of this now.

  • first off, it might be easier if you can get someone from either your ISP, router manufacturer or computer manufacturer on the phone with you, they deal with problems like this all the time and can probably fix this this for you quickly. if not then try to check if the network card driver on your computer is installed and working. go to device manager and see if you have any “?” “!” or yellow triangle where it says “network adapters”. usually there is a light on the router that indicates activity for the ethernet port so you might want to check if that is blinking.

  • Unplug your router for a bit. That resets it and often fixes things.

    Also restart the pc.
