How can I make my dog an ESA?

What are the steps I need to take in order to make the dog I already have into an ESA? I’m planning on moving and there aren’t a lot of pet friendly places. I have anxiety/depression problems and he helps a lot with calming me down. Do I just need a note from my doctor? Or is it a more difficult process? I just want him to be able to live with me wherever I have to go.

You cant. If you have anxiety, take your meds, legit service dogs who provide a real service their owners cannot do for themselves are allowed those animals.

You must have a diagnoses by the right doctors stating in writing you are emotionally unstable and a dog may be of benefit to help you stay calm.
But be aware that Land Lords and property do not have to by law accept EMS dogs,
as these certain dog do not perform an exact service such as service dogs do.
Guide Dogs help blind and almost blind people get around.

For example I have a service dog for my arthritis, he was trained if I dropped something or needed something from the lower shelves in grocery stores he can pick these items up with his mouth and hand it to me.

EMS dogs really do nothing but lay there and let you pet them till you calm down and all dog will do that. There is no training needed.

To say a dog is a service dog just to make a land lord or property owner allow a person to have a dog is fraud and is subject to possible eviction and a fine if challenged.

Also there is more animal friendly apartment complexes then you think now.

A ESA is just a pet. Its not a service dog and the landlord of a pet free building can refuse you an apartment

    Here are the steps:

    1. Have a mental disability or a mental condition severe enough to be considered disabling.

    2. Be under the ongoing care of a mental health professional. A regular doctor will not do.

    3. Have the mental health professional recommend an emotional support animal as beneficial for your treatment plan.

    4. Have your treating mental health professional write you a letter stating you need an ESA for your mental disability, that it’s necessary for your ongoing treatment and your disability as it appears in the DSM IV.

    5. Turn this letter in, along with a letter requesting accommodation, to your landlord.

    6. Wait to be approved before bringing the animal onto the property.

    That’s it.

Your pet dog can be your ESA.

And since no special training, licensure, certification or registration is needed for an emotional support animal, none can be requested. All of those sites you see online selling these things are scams and the product is worthless and for novelty purposes only.

Not mentally disabled? Then you don’t qualify.

    Pay the pet deposit.
