How to stop dogs from going to the bathroom in the house?

I am a sitter for an older woman who has five dogs that she refuses to part with she lets them out many times a day and goes outside with them they will go to the bathroom outside every time without fail the problem is at night they go to the bathroom in the living room EVERY NIGHT!! Mainly peeing on the floor! All her dogs are fixed two are female three are male. I have tried shampooing the carpet for her to get the smell out with no success. She wants to put down a new carpet but I told her she needs to get them to stop first or the same thing will happen. Four of the five dogs are large breeds and she doesn’t have enough room for all the crates. She has tried crating her little dog but he will just walk around his crate on the inside peeing all the way around! It’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen! Any ideas or help would be great! NO HATE!!!

  • I would check with your vet first to rule out any health issues, but are your dogs peeing in smaller amounts or full bladder? If they’re peeing in smaller amounts, then it could be a territorial marking issue. My family has two neutered male chihuahuas that mark that mark in the house, and they wear a new dog garment that prevents indoor urine marking. It’s machine-washable, made in the USA, and very effective in protecting our furniture, rugs and drapes from this behavior. You can check it out at http://stopdogmarking.com/ if you think this is the case.

  • Try using potty pads I set potty pads around the house so that my dogs will pee on them instead of the carpet for big dogs you should get the biggest sizes of the potty pads because if you get them too small they try to pee on it but just end up moving the pad around
