Genealogy help (PARENTS of a couple)?

I’m trying to find the parents of RAYMOND LOWERY (South Carolina, born ) and FANNIE LOWERY (South Carolina, born — Sorry, don’t have her maiden name ). They were married. All of the family tree’s I’ve seen only go up to them, and then stop. I really need to find their parents but I can’t find ANYTHING.

Thanks in advance.

If so… the death certificates for Geneva, Elwin and Lee all list their parents’ names as Raymond Lowery and Fannie Thompson. So there you have Fannie’s maiden name.

    Death Certificate for Raymond Lowery:

Raymond Lowery – Male – Col – Married

    Name of Husband/Wife: Fannie Lowery

Place of Death: Blacksburg, Cherokee County, SC

Date of Death: Mar – Age: yrs

    Date of Birth: Nov

Name of Father: Tuck Lowery – born SC

Name of Mother: Fannie Lowery – born SC

    Place of burial: Young’s Grove

This looks like the death record for Raymond’s mother:

Fannie Lowery – Female – Col – Widowed

Place of Death: Cherokee County, SC

    Date of Death: Feb

    Age:

    Birthplace: SC

Father: Charles Smith – born SC

Mother: Ann Smith – born SC

    Burial: Young’s Grove

    Informant: Raymond Lowery

Apparently Raymond had a brother named Charley born c. Charley married Lula White in Cabarrus County, NC in and listed his parents as Tuck Lowery and Fannie Lowery.

Also in Cabarrus County, NC, there is a Judy D. Lowery (male) who died there in . He was born in March in SC, wife named Lula, parents are William Lowery and Fannie Smith of SC. And back in Cherokee County, SC, there’s a death record for a Jimmie Lowery, born c in SC, died in Cherokee County, SC, son of William Lowery and Fannie Smith.

Could Tuck Lowery be the same person as this William Lowery?

This looks like the family in . (Cherokee County was created in from parts of Spartanburg County):

Census – Cherokee, Spartanburg County, SC

    William Lowe – Mu – M – – SC-SC-SC – Farmer

    Fanny Lowe – wife – Mu – F – – SC-SC-SC – Keeping House

    James Lowe – son – Mu – M – – SC-SC-SC

    Cora Lowe – dau – Mu – F – – SC-SC-SC

    John Lowe – son – Mu – M – – SC-SC-SC

    Charles Lowe – son – Mu – M – – SC-SC-SC

    Judson Lowe – son – Mu – M – mos – SC-SC-SC

And aha! Here’s Fannie in , remarried to a Lockhart, with her sons Jud and finally Raymond and another son Walter:

Census – Rippys, Cleveland County, NC

    John Lockhart – B – M – Oct – – married yrs – SC-SC-SC – Farmer

    Fannie Lockhart – wife- B – F – Mar – / kids – SC-SC-SC

    Jud D. Low – stepson – B – M – Dec – – SC-SC-SC

    Raymond Low – stepson – B – M – Mar – – SC-SC-SC

    Walter Low – stepson – B – M – Mar – – SC-SC-SC

So it looks like the parents of Raymond Lowery are William “Tuck” Lowe and Fannie Smith. Sometime between -, they were either divorced or William died, and Fannie remarried John Lockhart around . Sometime between -, they began using the name Lowery.

  • Sorry, I looked on ancestry.com and found a couple who I’m pretty sure was them in a census and a census where Raymond’s name was misspelled “Roman Lowey”. I couldn’t find anything on any parents though.
